Leaning into the Learning

Excellence in teaching, innovation in learning.

My teaching philosophy focuses on developing collaborative, reflective, and empowered educational leaders. I build strong partnerships with my students and create supportive learning communities grounded in trust, communication, and a growth mindset.
I prioritize authentic, hands-on learning that connects theory to real-world practice, preparing aspiring leaders to navigate complex challenges. Teaching, for me, is an evolving practice shaped by reflection and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Through strategies like gradual release, simulations, and experiential learning, I design engaging and rigorous experiences. By emphasizing voice, choice, mentorship, and coaching, I empower students to take ownership of their learning while building the confidence, skills, and networks they need to lead and succeed.

What "Leaning into the Learning" is about . . .

Leaning into the learning means embracing growth with both students and faculty through reflection, collaboration, and innovation. I foster shared learning experiences that build capacity, adaptability, and continuous improvement for all.

Instructional Design

Scaffolded, student-centered learning from exploration to application.

Student-centered learning that scaffolds from exploration to real-world application, using collaboration, inquiry, and reflection to deepen understanding and support continuous growth.

Five Critical Practices

A framework for high-impact learning in asynchronous online leadership development.

Quality instruction centers on relationships, clear communication, accessible content, meaningful connections, and scaffolding. Online learning isn’t a barrier—it’s an opportunity to innovate, engage students, and build community.

The Power of Simulation Learning for Educators

National webinar on using simulation-based learning to build real-world leadership skills.

I presented nationally with a student on using simulation-based learning to build leadership skills. These virtual experiences in real-world scenarios strengthen critical thinking, collaboration, and confident decision-making beyond the classroom.

Sample Extended Learning Communities

Bridging student voice with real-world leadership and strategy.

Student-centered panels connect learners with current school leaders, fostering authentic dialogue, real-world insight, and practical strategies to address today’s most pressing challenges in education.
